trigger point injections

At Elevate Health & Aesthetics, we offer trigger point injections (TPI) to relieve muscle pain and restore mobility. Trigger points—often called “muscle knots”—are tight, painful bands of muscle that form after injury, repetitive strain, or microtrauma. Left untreated, they can cause chronic pain, stiffness, and limited movement.

Our Scottsdale-based practice provides personalized trigger point therapy designed to reduce pain, release tension, and support long-term healing.

What are trigger Points?

Trigger points are tender, irritable spots within muscle fibers that remain tense even when the surrounding muscle relaxes. They may cause:

  • Localized muscle pain
  • Stiffness and reduced range of motion
  • Referred pain to nearby areas (e.g., headaches, jaw pain, back pain)
  • Functional limitations in daily activities

How do Trigger point injections work?

During a trigger point injection, Dr. Linda Eller, DO precisely inserts a thin needle into the muscle knot. A custom fluid solution is delivered to help release the taut muscle band, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

Our injections may include:

  • Lidocaine or saline (to relax the muscle)

  • Corticosteroids or NSAIDs (to reduce inflammation)

  • Sodium bicarbonate (to improve pain relief)

  • Neuromodulators such as Botox or Daxxify (for long-lasting muscle relaxation, when appropriate)

Common treatment areas include the neck, shoulders, jaw, back, hips, and legs.

Results You Can Expect

  • Some patients feel pain relief the same day
  • Others may notice gradual improvement over several days
  • Multiple treatments may be recommended for lasting relief
  • Improved range of motion and reduced muscle tension are typical outcomes
